The Fayetteville Observer is reporting that the pastor at Berean Baptist Church in Fayetteville told members of his congregation on Sunday: “the second you see that son dropping the limp wrist, you walk over there and crack that wrist. Man up. Give them a good punch. OK?”
His sermon was in response to a push from the organization Vote for Marriage NC. The group, which is pushing for the constitutional marriage amendment on the ballot May 8, promoted April 29 as Marriage Sunday and encouraged pastors to speak for marriage between one woman and one man.
An audio clip of his sermon has been circulating on YouTube. A video of the 55-minute sermon is on his church's web site.
Pastor Sean Harris has since said he was only joking but was serious about promoting gender roles in young people, according to the newspaper.
