Vera Farmiga as Lorraine Warren in New Line Cinema’€™s supernatural thriller “The Conjuring,” a Warner Bros. Pictures release.

Warner Bros. has released photos from “The Conjuring,” a movie that filmed in the Port City this spring.

The New Line supernatural thriller, written by Chad and Carey Hayes (“House of Wax”), is based on the real-life experiences of couple Ed and Lorraine Warren (played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga), who worked as psychic investigators during the 1970s.

Other cast members include: Shannon Kook-Chun (“Degrassi”), who plays the Warrens’ assistant, Shanley Caswell (“Detention”), Hayley McFarland, Joey King, and Mackenzie Foy (“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2″).

Footage of the film delighted audiences this fall at New York’s Comic-Con, though I’m not sure these latest photos do the James Wan (“Insidious,” “Saw”) horror justice.

Wan told convention attendees that “The Conjuring” taps “old-school tricks” rather than the latest in computerized technology. He also called it a “classic ghost story,” according to Collider.com.

Set in 1971, “The Conjuring” follows a family (led by Lili Taylor and Ron Livingston’s characters) whose farmhouse is haunted by a witch’s spirit.
