COMMENTARY: Standing in St. Francis’ example, the new pope
Fran Salone-Pelletier says Pope Francis is beginning by setting a high bar in the name he chose as the 266th pontiff. She says: "Francis of Assisi heard God's call to rebuild a church and took it literally and prophetically. He would build it, stone by stone, with patience and time. He would see that the edifice was not simply a place to pray but would be one where prayerful people would gather to celebrate God's creative goodness everywhere. Peace and goodness was his claim, his delight, his treasure and his goal. There is now another Francis. This one is pope. Is he telling the world that he intends to live into his chosen name? Is he proclaiming that his message and mission is to bring to the surface, the deeply buried peace and goodness that God intends for all to enjoy and live?"

We children were imbued with the solemnity and sanctity of Holy Week.
