One painting in a downtown church is actually war booty.
Another set of ceramic Stations of the Cross are one-of-a-kind sculptures.
Don't miss the fascinating art and history that fills Wilmington's religious spaces downtown on the first WilmingtonFAVS Religious Arts Walking Tour.
The walking tour is a benefit for WilmingtonFAVS.com, which is a nonprofit. Tours will be 3-5 p.m. Aug. 19 and Aug. 26, and each tour will start from St. Mary Catholic Church at 412 Ann St. Tickets are a suggested donation of $10 and can be purchased by calling 910-520-3958, at the Historic Wilmington Foundation offices at 2011 Market St., or at St. Mary Catholic Church and other participating churches.
After 12 years of reporting about these five worship spaces, WilmingtonFAVS editor Amanda Greene will lead the tour, which will include a peak inside the art of St. Mary Catholic Church, First Presbyterian Church, St. James Episcopal Church, Temple of Israel and First Baptist Church.
