Like most of you, I took a mega-minute, to slow down and refresh my memory of what the year 2012 brought me. It indeed has been a blessing; both for me and anyone in my “coveted circle.”
As the proud “Life Transitions” writer for www.WilmingtonFAVS.com, I feel somewhat empowered to share bits and pieces of a life patched back together – and on the mend. It has been a blessing to work with, work for, and to volunteer my time for the greater good. Now I am transitioning into 2013, and prepared to do the footwork necessary.
As a praying woman, I thank God for my life on a daily basis. I thank my son and his friend, for literally transporting me from Detroit, Michigan to Jacksonville, NC. I am equally thankful for him driving me to a detox unit, followed up by an inpatient treatment facility.
He is a one-of-a-kind son, who I am so proud of. He made Sergeant in the US Marine Corps, got married and has a son, too. Feeling somewhat displaced, for many reasons, I moved to Wilmington, NC, in attempts to re-build and strengthen my fragile state of being, making that transition for change and a solid foundation for whatever was ahead.
Most journalists are naturally inquisitive and I fit well in that category. That proved to be a good thing, as I took to the streets, walking around and conducting pseudo interviews with anyone that would give me a bit of their time.
Being a photographer helped me out tremendously. I successfully took hundreds of photographs which are on my small list of 2013 resolutions - to snap more pictures of wildlife, plants, flowers, sunsets, sunrises and of course babies a wedding and a funeral.
Did I mention the numerous strangers who stopped to probe and question me? That alone allowed me to meet some of the best people that God created! This rings true for my WilmingtonFAVS family and the clients I was blessed with, who ultimately allowed and trusted in me and my ability to take them to the next level.
My oh, my, what would I have done without my military families from the Navy, Marines and Army. My friends near and far and my cherished family across the USA and a few abroad. There is not enough space, time or room to thank each and every one of the people, places, things, business and organizations! In addition to ILM-FAVS, I also write for: Divine Caroline, the Examiner, TPEPost.com and for my clients obtained from my freelance career.
In closing, my resolutions are simple: I plan to work harder on my health: physical, mental, emotional and financial. In the event the people, places or things in my life bring strife to me – “it has to go.”
I’ll be cleaning house in the communications area as well. This includes my telephone address book, emails, Facebook, my tangible business cards, and scraps of paper with numbers, emails, etc.
Many blessings to all of you and Happy New Year's. Welcome 2013. THANK YOU ALL!
