HARRELLS | Topsail High School principal Marcus Skipper will become the headmaster at Harrells Christian Academy, effective July 1.

He replaces Ronald Montgomery, headmaster since 2002, who is retiring.

Skipper, who served at Topsail for four years, has more than 20 years of teaching, coaching and administrative experience. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history along with a Masters in School Administration from the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

Skipper's first official day on the job will be July 9.

Skipper announced in May that he would resign from Topsail, effective June 30.

He said he resigned because he felt like it was time to "move forward and take on a new challenge."

Pender County school district officials offered no specific comment on Skipper's resignation. He was suspended, but later reinstated, in October because of incident during a meeting with then-interim Superintendent Rachel Manning.
