WilmingtonFAVS would like to welcome Daniel Thompson to our community contributors! He'll be writing about the intersection of faith and sports.

Daniel Thompson's professional career as a teacher, coach and executive with State Farm Insurance spans more than 34 years. He earned his B.S. degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin, and he holds certifications in underwriting, financial consulting and management. Danny also played and coached high school football in Tennessee and trained college athletes at the University of Tennessee at Martin.

Retiring from his corporate career at age 57, Danny just wrote his first book, "Faith and Career Encounter (FaCE): Glorifying God in Your Work and Career."

Danny and his wife, Susie, have two children and five grandchildren.

He loves his football, rooting for the University of Tennessee Volunteers and the Denver Broncos.

In baseball, he cheers for the Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals.
