Faith Photo Spotlight: Wilmington children read the Emancipation Proclamation on its 150th anniversary

On Jan. 1, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation stating the slaves in states that were in rebellion were freed and led the way for the 13th Amendment later. On Tuesday (Jan. 1, about 200 community members crowded into St. Luke A.M.E. Zion Church on the corner of 7th and Church streets to commemorate and celebrate that address.
