BRIEF: Trinity UMC to uncover past on Sunday, opening 1948 time capsule

In 1948, the members of Trinity United Methodist Church buried a time capsule with artifacts and letters from the time.

On Sunday (Aug. 26), the church will unearth the time capsule and peek inside. Excavation Sunday will be at Trinity's 11 a.m. worship service at 1403 Market St. The service will include opening the church's cornerstone, special music, a children's heritage moment and a group photo of the 1948 participants.

The congregation will replace the cornerstone on Heritage Sunday at 11 a.m. on Sept. 9 with recognition of long standing members, a special song by the children's ministry, resealing the cornerstone, a covered dish lunch, a display of items from the 1948 box and an open mike time for sharing church memories.
