This Sunday was Pentecost for most Christians, but for the people attending First Baptist Activity Center on Sunday afternoon (May 19), it was also Global Day of Prayer, a day to repent and pray with fellow Christians.

Canadian Christian rocker Matt Maher’s 2009 album, “Alive Again,” reached No. 6 on Billboard’s “Top Christian Albums” chart, and he’s received two Grammy nominations for songs co-written for Christian singer Chris Tomlin. British church attendance stabilizes after years of decline

The annual statistics reveal a substantial increase in attendance at the country’s storied cathedrals: Christmas churchgoing rose by 14 percent, christenings were up 4.3 percent and adult baptisms were up 5 percent. The number of weddings was down 3.6 percent, to 51,880.

Vigil brings UNCW students together for Boston and Virginia Tech
