Poll: Are guns a religious/moral issue?

  • Yes
  • No

Amanda.Greene@ReligionNews.com

After the terrible tragedy inside Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., two firefighters were shot and killed today, on Christmas Eve, in Webster, N.Y. while responding to a house fire.

Since the Connecticut elementary school shootings, Slate magazine tallied the number of gun deaths at 160 nationwide, including one here in Wilmington, the shooting death of 19-year-old Joshua Proutey.

Many are asking if the amount of gun violence in America is the fault of the ready access to guns or a lax mental health care system or both.

Is gun control a moral or religious issue as well?

Some argue it's an American, God-given right to carry weapons for self-protection.

How do you feel?

Here is the lay of the land on Twitter today on the issue of guns and God.
