Does God send hurricanes to punish humanity?

Poll: Does God send hurricanes to punish humanity?

  • Yes
  • No, it's just a weather event.

Hurricane season is upon us here in the Cape Fear region and up and down the East Coast.

Tropical Storm Isaac is forecasted to hit U.S. soil as a Category 1 hurricane somewhere along the Gulf Coast or New Orleans in the next 24 hours.

Officials in New Orleans said they are billions of dollars more prepared this time than they were when Hurricane Katrina broke the levies and drowned the city in 2005.

Back then, prominent evangelists blamed God's wrath at the city's excesses as one cause for the hurricane.

Of course, we have the biblical example of Noah's Ark where God destroyed the earth in a flood.

Does God cause destructive modern destructive weather events? Tell us your thoughts.

  1. If we believe that God is all powerful and able to control the weather, then God must also be pretty fickle, and indeed, cruel. That goes against a belief in a loving God.

  2. Thank you for your thoughts as always Phil!
