More than lobster, shrimp and baklava - church food festivals give to Wilmington charities
Church of the Servant, Episcopal's 29th Lobster Fest will be 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. Saturday at the church on Oriole Drive. Every year, Lobster Fest gives part of its proceeds to area charities as do other local church festivals including St. Nicholas Greek Festival, Cape Fear Presbyterian's Shrimp Fest and St. Stanislaus Catholic Church's Polish Festival.

Wilmington police creates ministry database to track habitual scammers
The Wilmington Police Department recently created a Predators in the Pews Database for churches to use to track individuals who regularly ask for money from their congregations. Since May 20, more than 40 ministry representatives have been given access to the site and are already uploading data for tracking purposes.
