The face of philanthropy

Ashley High School and several other New Hanover County schools held Pie Your Teacher contests to raise money for United Way in 2012. Here an Ashley student sends a chocolate pie flying at a teacher - all for a good cause. The school system raised about $39,000 to support United Way programs such as The Blue Ribbon Commission on the Prevention of Youth Violence, Salvation Army, American Red Cross, NourishNC, Brigade Boys and Girls Club, Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard and more, according to a press release.
